Chung Family Reunion summer 2017

Sitting in the train now with hubby on our way to Changi Airport. Ya, we are going back to my hometown Ipoh for our family gathering.

For the first time in 5 years, all my siblings are gathered in one country and in Ipoh.
To be specific, our parent gave birth to 6 kids ie. 4 girls and 2 boys, in a small little town; Batu Gajah about 20km away from Ipoh.
I am the oldest staying in Singapore, next came my brother CK ; staying in Beijing. Then Emily and Leng both still reside in Ipoh. After is my baby sister May who is an American; stays in Baltimore with her family. Lastly my baby Brother Felix in Singapore too. So there you have it, the total run down on all my siblings whereabouts.
Our plane touched down at precisely 7.10pm. Welcome to Sultan Ashlan Shah airport, Ipoh, Perak.
After clearing immigration, there just outside the gate, was my Mun and Emily, then I saw my niece; Su Wei came to pick us for dinner.
We had dinner at the famous  noodles restaurant 'Let's Rock' @ Jln Raja Ekram. Yummy yummy

It's curry fish sold out, so we had the above and dried mix noodles.
After dinner, we came home to Emily's place to chill out with wine and Turkish delights which they brought home from their recent visit to Istanbul.

Day 2
Breakfast at Mun Yee food stalls, Station 18,  somewhere near Eon, Ipoh. They have  large assortment of local food eg. Fried kway teow Penang style, Yong tau foo with dry mixes noodles or curry mee, pork noodles soup, Chee Cheong fun, roti chennai and many many more. All are deliciously tasty

Now in Ipoh, my new favorite pass time is food testing, I have decided to enjoy myself all out and try as many foods as I possibly could eat. Ipoh is really a foodies paradise!
After breakfast, we went to SPPK Market, Pasir Puteh to wonder around the wet market looking for jackfruit and some local kueh.
Lunch time: we had Chee Cheong Fun from Pasir Pinji

This stall operates out from a little house along  Jalan Pasir Pinji 5, Ipoh. It's very very deliciously tasty. Yes it was freshly made and steam from their kitchen. It's a must-try if you happened to be in Ipoh.
By 3.30pm my baby sister May arrived from Kuala Lumpur with her children; Brendan, Mei Mei and Jai Chi by ETS Express. I was really happy seeing them again, all 3 kids has grown so much taller esp. the younger one; Jai Chi. I last saw them were only a mere 6 months ago when I visit them in US.

We had afternoon snacks of laksa and noodles again for the new arrival.
After which, we rested for awhile then off we go shopping in Aeon at Station 18.
Never did I know, May's youngest Jai Chi only 8 years old, is such a flamboyant shopper and comical too. She knows what she wants and is attracted to anythings that comes with blings and colourful. It's was fun watching her and her older sister Mei Mei who was a totally opposite shopper.

At Aeon shopping, playing with the message chair.

We had an unconventional dinner later that evening, we ate all those leftover food from the day. It's a "mix rojak" of  Chee Cheong fun, Laksa, avocados smoothies , local kueh and pizza.

We had slumber party that night.
Day 3
Breakfast we had the famous Prown Noodle!

This restaurant is in Pasir Pinji too. The soup base was amazingly good. This restaurant do have other items on its menu eg. Loh Mee, fish ball noodles and curry noodles.
After breakfast we went tiramisu ingredients shopping. Ya, correct this afternoon we are going to make 2 trays of tiramisu and a cheese cake with the help of our very own master baker my Cousin Mee, she came over from Brunei to join us for this reunion.

After the cheese cake and tiramisu are safely being chill inside the fridge, we took the kids for a movie. We watch Priate of the Caribbean Salalaz Revent

6 of us watching the 5.30pm movie at Aeon
Dinner time:

OMG, Ipoh's No. 1 must have. Ipoh Bean spouts Chicken to die for. Emily's husband took us to this restaurant at Pasir Puteh whose boss is half Indian/ Chinese. It's really really good, we ordered 2 x the chicken and pork balls.

Going to bed now, feeling very pleased of today's accomplishment.

Our childhood home

Our dinner! Down memory lane, these are the food we ate during our childhood on festive occasion.
Yes, we cooked the same food, nothing fancy.
My hubby did not eat anything during dinner. cos he wasn't feeling well, has been throwing out the whole afternoon. This could be due to the cold pau he ate earlier on.

Day 6
Today we are going to Pangkok Laut Resort, from Ipoh it's about 1 hour journey. Before driving up the Lumut, I bought Albert to consult a doctor for some medication. Ya confirmed, a case of mild food poisoning, Doctor gave him vomit tablets, dizziness and ginko vitamins.

Registration was done in main land office before taking the speed boat to the island

This resort is under YTL group,  the island is beautiful!
We had quite a good package per head was RM1,100.00  for the weekend with all meals included plus speed boat transfers.
Before collecting our room keys we went for our lunch at Chapman Bar @ Emerald Bay.

Due to lots of walking and exhaustion, my hubby, Albert collapsed again. He was bed ridden for the 3 days we were on this Island for most of the time i was with him except for food in the restaurant.

Luckily this does not dampened our spirit! My siblings and family did had a ball of time here.
